Socially Beneficial Projects
In line with the Smart Life 2030 strategy, we believe that every task and project we undertake should create value for society. Just as individuals have responsibilities to the community, we believe that organizations also bear a responsibility to the society in which they exist. With the understanding we define as "Corporate Citizenship," we work to ensure that every task we undertake contributes value to the region, country, and the world.
With this approach, starting from the establishment of our facility in the Gördes district of Manisa, we have focused on the social, cultural, and economic development of the region where our facility is located. In this context, we have implemented various socially beneficial projects, including "Çiçekli-2 Pond," "Construction of Celal Bayar University Gördes Vocational School," "National Afforestation Campaign in Balıkesir Province," and "Afforestation in Tavşanalan."
Çiçekli-2 Pond
The Çiçekli Pond in the Çiçekli Village, planned by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), was anticipated to meet the irrigation needs of the settlement while causing the agricultural lands of Kalemoğlu Village to be submerged. Recognizing that this project, while beneficial for one region, could harm another settlement, we took action. Through dialogues with the DSİ, the pond project was relocated to a more suitable location, and the entire construction was undertaken by our company under the name "Çiçekli-2 Pond." The project involved the construction of a 3.5 million cubic meters pond in the region, and meticulous care was taken to ensure that not a single tree was harmed during the project. As part of the project, 200,000 trees were planted. Today, this project meets both the agricultural irrigation needs of the region and the water requirements of our facility. Kalemoğlu Village, initially facing the risk of losing agricultural lands in the initial planning, has now gained not only agricultural areas but also a unique picnic area around the "Çiçekli-2 Pond."
Construction of Celal Bayar University Gördes Vocational School
Celal Bayar University's Gördes Vocational School was facing closure due to the lack of its own building. The structure came back to life through the coordination of the Gördes Schools and Students Aid Association, with the support of local entrepreneurs in Gördes, including Meta Nikel Kobalt. Thanks to this collaboration, Gördes Vocational School moved to its new building in 2008 without the use of state funds.
Student Scholarships
Continuing its commitment to support children and young people, who are the guarantee of our future for the dream of a better world, Zorlu Holding, in line with its vision of social responsibility, continues to provide uncompensated educational scholarships. Within this framework, as Meta Nikel, we support over 100 children and young individuals studying in the Gördes district and its affiliated villages with scholarships every academic year.
Corporate Volunteering Projects
We consider volunteer activities as an important way to create shared values and trigger social transformation. Within this framework, we support projects under the corporate volunteering program "Sparks Movement," which aims to bring all volunteer projects together under one roof and create projects with a long-lasting positive impact on society. Our colleagues contribute to these projects, and we actively participate in them.
Stakeholder Relations and Management
We are aware that the local community in the regions where we operate is our most fundamental stakeholder. In this context, we regularly gather the opinions and feedback of the local community. We receive and evaluate requests related to infrastructure and other issues from Gördes and the surrounding villages, and based on these requests, we undertake necessary improvement initiatives.
