MHP

The solution rich in dissolved nickel and cobalt elements in the HPAL process is gradually purified by adjusting the pH profile to remove impurities and is then sent to the Mixed Hydroxide Precipitation (MHP) unit. Magnesium oxide is added to the reactors in the respective unit to precipitate in hydroxide form. The resulting precipitate is transferred to thickening tanks, where its density is increased and then pumped to filter press feeding tanks. The obtained high-density MHP product is dewatered by passing through equipment such as filter presses. The resulting concentrate, rich in nickel and cobalt, is filled into big bags and transported to the storage area.

What We Do in Mining

Following examinations conducted on the licensed lateritic nickel ore fields of Meta Nickel Cobalt Inc.'s Gördes facility, it has been determined that the most efficient hydrometallurgical storage method is high-pressure acid leaching (HPAL), which is the state-of-the-art technology application. All investments have been made based on this hydrometallurgical process, making this facility a source of pride as it stands as the only applicable one in Turkey."
